In the latest development in "Yeh Hai Mohabatein", Subbu (Amit Tandon) reveals the reason for his revenge against Raman (Karan Patel) and Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi).
Subbu breaks down and discloses that his wife Lakshmi and son Karthik committed suicide as she believed that he was in a relationship with his employee Neha, who happens to be Raman's cousin.
However, Subbu insists he loved his wife and son dearly and would never have done anything that would leave Lakshmi shattered.
He goes on to explain that while he warned Neha to stay away from him, a mysterious person repeatedly called Lakshmi and threatened her to get away from his life. The caller even forced Lakshmi to divorce Subbu to make way for him to settle down with Neha.
While the entire Bhalla family including Raman, Ishita and Simi was wondering what Lakshmi's death had to do with Subbu taking revenge on them, the latter discloses that the caller who forced Lakshmi to take the drastic step is none other than Raman's mother, Santoshi Bhalla.
This taktes everyone by surprise. But Santoshi says she can never do such a thing that would compel someone to commit suicide, though she accepts she did call up Lakshmi, unaware her (Lakshmi's) husband was Subbu.
Santoshi's only concern was her relative Neha, who, she knew, was fighting depression because of her relationship with a married Indian doctor.
So, to keep Neha away from the married man, she called up Lakshmi and warned her to control her husband.
The episode ends with Ishita consoling her mother-in-law who believes it was she whose harsh words made Lakshmi take the big step. Ishita explains her it was not her fault and that it wasn't intentional either.
In the prelude to the next episode, Santoshi is seen asking Subbu to forgive her.
It now remains to be seen if Subbu forgives the Bhalla family.
