Not just Bollywood, even TV actors these days are known to get into the skin of the character. But only a few actresses dare to take the bold step of sporting a bald look for a show.
Rinku Karmarkar, who plays the negative role of Tai in Zee TV's "Ye Vaada Raha" has shaved off her locks in order to fit into her character.
Interestingly, Rinku, who is best known for her roles in shows like "Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha" and "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii", wasn't apprehensive about shaving off her locks. In fact, it was her idea to sport a bald look.
"I was fed up of wearing a wig as the pins that held it together would prick and hurt my scalp. So I told my unit that it would be better if I went bald. They conveyed it to the makers, who were shocked to hear this. When they asked me, I told them that taking such a step would enhance the character," IANS quoted Rinku as saying.
Rinku, however, believes that it's a huge experiment as an actor. Talking about her husband and actor Kiran Karmarkar's reaction to her decision, Rinku said: "He threw a fit and said that he didn't approve of the idea. I told him that I was doing this solely for the character. I reminded him of his last fiction outing for which he underwent a complete makeover."
Besides Rinku, Bollywood actress Tanvi Azmi recently sported a bald look for her role of Radhabai in Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer "Bajirao Mastani". Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das also went bald for Deepa Mehta's film.
