Yamaha has launched its new 125cc commuter motorcycle Saluto in India at ₹52,000 (ex Showroom-Delhi).
Emerging reports on the web suggest that Yamaha Motor India - which just expanded its product portfolio in the country with YZF-R1 and R1M - launched a new entry level 125cc bike on 17 April.
A Rushlane report had claimed that Yamaha is preparing to launch its new commuter bike Saluto in India on 17 April. Although the two-wheeler lovers in India were expecting the arrival of Yamaha R125 , it looks like the company has no plans to bring the models to the domestic market at least for now.
Coming back to the 125cc Saluto, the bike that was spied recently is expected to get power from a 124.7 cc engine that can generate 11 PS peak power and 10.5 Nm peak torque. The transmission is likely to be taken care of by a 5 speed gearbox, and the model is likely to sit between Yamaha's SS125 and the SZ.
The Saluto 125 is likely to get a price tag of around ₹50,000 and when launched the model will join Yamaha's SS125 and the SZ bikes in this segment.
Meanwhile, Yamaha launched its much-awaited YZF-R1 and R1M in India with a price tag of ₹22, 34,300 and ₹29, 43,100 (Ex-Showroom Delhi), respectively.
Powered by 998cc liquid-cooled, parallel four-cylinder engine that can pump out 147.1kW (200.0PS) @13,500rpm and a peak torque of 112.4 Nm (11.5 kg-m) @ 11,500rpm, Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M get 17 litre fuel tank. The 2015 Yamaha R1M is available in Silver Blue Carbon and the YZF-R1 comes in two colours: Racing Blue and Racing Red.
