Update: Yamaha has launched its much-awaited YZF-R3 in India.
Yamaha will start the dispatch of new R3 in India from 20 August and the model will be avail be through 100 select declares across the country. New Yamaha R3 goes for sale in India at 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Yamaha India has pulled the wraps off its new offering, YZF-R3, in the country on Tuesday (11 August) at a press event. Ahead of its launch, the bike enthusiasts managed to catch a glimpse of the new R3 at a dealership in Bangalore.
The folks at Motorods, via Yamaha Riders club, report that the new R3 will be priced at Rs 3.4 lakh (On-road Bangalore) and the model will feature MRF ZAPPER S 140/70-17 segment rubber at the back. Yamaha YZF-R3 is likely to get optional ABS.
The most intriguing part of the new R3 is likely to be its instrument cluster that is similar to Yamaha R15 with the Digital display and analogue tachometer.
Yamaha will be bringing YZF-R3 as completely knocked down (CKD) units and will be locally assembled at the company's plant in the country.
The power line-up of Yamaha R3 international model includes 320cc in-line twin-cylinder DOHC engine, which can pump out 42PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The stopping power of Yamaha sportsbike comes from 298mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The bike also gets telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the rear.
