India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. launched a motorcycle christened as SalutoRX priced at Rs 46,400, ex- showroom Delhi on Thursday, April 14. The new motorcycle caters to the entry level commuter segment where it will take on Honda's Dream Series and new TVS Victor.
Yamaha India already sells a 125cc motorcycle in the Saluto brand name and the new SalutoRX will be positioned below the 125cc model. The SalutoRX also features the same design as the 125cc sibling. Targeted at young customers, the Saluto RX is powered by single-cylinder 110cc engine that develops 7.37bhp and 7000rpm and 8.5Nm of torque at 4500rpm mated to four-speed transmission. This engine is compliant with the BS-IV norms.
"India is the largest two wheeler market in the world with nearly 16 million units sold last year and is a strategically important market for Yamaha. Being committed towards India, the launch of the unique 110 cc bike is a clear illustration of Yamaha's endeavour to cater to the aspirations of young India. Yamaha is very excited to launch this bike and is confident this will be very well received by the target group," said Masaki Asano, managing director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., in a statement.
Yamaha SalutoRX employs telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers. Being a commuter bike, the SalutoRX does not come with disc brake. The motorcycle weights just 98 kg and returns an impressive claimed fuel efficiency of 82kmpl. It features 10-spoke aluminium alloy wheels, digital instrument cluster and engine start-stop button. The motorcycle will be available in four colours -- Inspiring Red, Gleaming Black, Matt Black and Breezy Blue.
The motorcycle had been under development under the project name -- INDRA (Innovative and New Development based on Responsible Analysis). Yamaha targets sales of 60,000 units a year for SalutoRX. With the new commuter bike's arrival, the Crux has been discontinued from Yamaha's India line-up.
