India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has reportedly set April 14 as the launch date for Cygnus Ray-ZR, the sporty version of the Ray scooter. The Japanese manufacturer had unveiled the scooter at Auto Expo 2016 in the beginning of February.
The company has sent out invitations to the media regarding a launch on April 14, which NDTV Auto says will most likely be that of the Ray-ZR. The new scooter has been developed as a next-generation man's scooter and features styling in line with Honda Dio.
The Ray-ZR scooter is powered by an air-cooled, SOHC, 113cc Blue Core engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) unit. It features a lightweight body weighing just 103 kg. Yamaha claims the advanced engine with high combustion efficiency in Ray-ZR offers best fuel efficiency in its class. Being a premium scooter, the Ray-ZR's top specification comes with a disk brake that features cast aluminum wheels. This model is expected to be priced at around Rs.53,000. The scooter has 21-litre capacity under seat storage and the newly designed instrument cluster comes with better readability, even at night. The Ray-ZR will also have another variant with drum brakes, costing around Rs. 49,000.
