Yamaha Motor India has started sending out invites for a special event on 7 May, hinting at the launch of its much-awaited 125cc scooter Nozza Grande.
The folks at Motor Beam report that the official invitation features the front grille of a scooter, which by all likelihood, offers the greatest hint to the upcoming model. Although the company has managed to keep its agenda of the upcoming event under wraps, it is fair to expect that 7 May will at least see a new 125cc scooter.
From the rumours that have been floating around, Yamaha's Asia-specific Nozza Grande is the most likely candidate for the event as the model was caught on camera recently in the country while undergoing its test rounds.
Yamaha Nozza Grande, the125cc scooter model that was recently launched in Vietnam with much fanfare, is considered to get an array of changes that will make it suitable for the sub-continental conditions.
The India-bound Nozza Grande, believed to be codenamed 04 X, will compete against the likes of Honda Activa 125, Vespa VX125 and Suzuki Access. Yamaha 04 X, the new entrant in the burgeoning 125cc segment, is likely to sport styling changes from Nozza Grande and is expected to be sold under a different name in the Indian market.
Although Nozza Grande is retailed for a price tag of 28.9 million Vietnamese Dong, which roughly translates to ₹84,173, the Indian version is likely to fall in the price range of ₹55,000- ₹65,000.
The model is likely to include the same 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, but without fuel injection technology to keep the price in check.
