Yamaha Motor India is reportedly working on a new 125cc motorbike for the Indian market. The product will make its entry into the premium commuter segment this year.
Dubbed Saluto 125, the new commuter bike from Yamaha will join the company's SS125 and the SZ bikes in this segment and likely to get a price tag of around ₹60,000, reported MotorBeam.
The model which is slated to make its India debut in April will be powered by the same 124.7 cc engine that can generate 11 PS peak power and 10.5 Nm peak torque with 5 speed gearbox.
It was also reported that the model could also get disc brake. The model is likely to sit between Yamaha's SS125 and the SZ. The company is also expected to launch a new 125cc scooter and R3 this year.
Currently, Yamaha's Indian portfolio includes Fazer, FZ-S, FZ, SZ-X, SZ-R, SZ-RR, YZF-R15 V 2.0, SS125, YBR 125, YBR 110, Crux, Ray, Ray Z and Alpha Scooters.
Meanwhile, Yamaha upgraded its scooter range Alpha, Ray and Ray Z with improved mileage. The scooter now comes with 'Blue Core' technology, a concept developed to increase combustion efficiency and cooling efficiency and to reduce power loss.
With the addition of the new technology, the scooter range of Yamaha promises to give a return of 66kmpl.
The Alpha gleaming gold variant is priced at ₹49,939 while the Ray Z cyan splash and Ray get a price tag of ₹48,936 and ₹47,805 respectively.
