It's been close to two weeks since Sony began rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Xperia Z3 and Z2 series devices in Nordic and Baltic regions. Now the company has announced that it has expanded the rollout process to other global markets.
"Our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade continues from today for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and next week for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet – now rolling out to further markets worldwide," said Sony on the company's official blog site.
The company added that the 2014 models – Xperia C3 and T2 Ultra – will also get the Android 5.0 Lollipop later this year.
Other devices which are confirmed to get the new OS include Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
If Sony Xperia Z3 (also Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact) owners are getting the update notifications, they should select "Yes, I'm in" option >> then, after downloading, select >> "Install now." The device will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.
Since the roll-out process is being carried out in phases, it will take some time to reach all corners of the world.
Until then, users can also check manually by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone/tablet' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now';
Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring the new design language – Material design – with interactive user-interface, lots of animation graphics, replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime will bring improvement in performance-and-battery-life enhancement, new TouchWiz UI features, refurbished interface, lock-screen notification options and many more features.
