Emerging Indian star smartphone maker Micromax unveiled the flagship phablet A116 Canvas HD last month. The device it made record sales with the smartphone stocks getting sold out within 15 minutes of its release online.
Micromax's Indian counterpart, Xolo, a sub-brand of Lava Mobiles known for its Intel powered smartphones, launched a low-cost and competitive Xolo Q800 smartphone in similar price-range for the burgeoning Indian market a few days ago.
With both smartphones boasting similar specs such as quad-core processors, camera, and memory, it remains to be seen what minor difference would attract consumers more.
Display:
The Micromax A116 canvas HD shows off a 720p resolution display with pixel density of 294 pixels per inch, whereas Xolo Q800 sports a 245 ppi display. The difference of 49 ppi display clarity would probably be noticed by tech enthusiasts hence the difference is negligible. Both smartphones have impressive quality display resolutions for a price tag of sub ₹15,000.
Processor:
Both Micromax Canvas HD and Xolo Q800 pack a MediaTek MT6589 chipset with 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
Camera:
Xolo Q800 sports an 8.0-megapixel main camera with CMOS sensor and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. Canvas HD too sports a similar 8.0-megapixel rear-side camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.
Mobile Operating System:
In terms of mobile operating system, both smartphones stand even in this department as they run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
In other aspects such as Graphics Processing Unit, Memory, RAM, network connectivity they both share similar features.
However, Xolo Q800's smaller build can win over some fans who prefer smaller smartphones than 5-inch big screen devices such as Galaxy Grand, Micromax Canvas HD.
The only other difference between the two is that the Canvas HD is priced at ₹13,999 while Xolo Q800 is priced at ₹12,499, almost ₹1500 lower than its competitor. When the decision comes to choose between the two, Micromax seems to be the more popular considering the rate at which the units are seling in the market.
