Xolo Q1001, a budget smartphone priced at ₹6,199 ($100), has been announced. It is a dual SIM device with 3G connectivity and boasts of a 5-inch screen and has to take on several smartphones currently available in the market, like Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000 and Moto E 2nd Gen.
The Xolo Q1001 sports a 5-inch screen with 480 x 854 resolution (196ppi pixel density), powered by Cortex-A7 processor clocking at 1.3 GHz, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes packed with 4 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM and microSD up to 32 GB. It has a 5.0 MP main camera and a VGA front snapper, supports v2.0 High Speed BT 4.0, and 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, and powered by 2000 mAh battery.
The new smartphone from Xolo has a big screen and decent specifications but it will have to compete with several budget smartphones, including Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000 and Moto E 2nd Gen, which is not going to be easy, owing to the fact that these devices have good features.
Xiaomi Redmi 2, priced at ₹6,999
The device sports a 4.7-inch screen with 720 x 1280pixels (312 ppi pixel density) and protected by Dragontrail Glass, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocking at 1.2GHz and run on Android 4.4.4 with MIUI 6.0. It also has features like 8GB internal memory, 1GB RAM and microSD up to 32GB, 8MP main camera and 2MP front snapper and 2,200mAh battery.
Lenovo A6000, priced at ₹6,999
It is a 4G LTE duel SIM smartphone and sports a 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (294ppi pixel density), powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and comes packed with 8 GB internal memory, 1 GB RAM and microSD up to 32 GB. It has an 8MP main camera and 2MP front snapper, and houses a Li-Po 2300 mAh battery.
Moto E 2nd Gen, priced at ₹6,999
The device has two variants - 3G and 4G model – with the former priced at ₹6,999. The 3G model is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor while the 4G model comes with a 64-bit class 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410. The device sports a 4.5-inch qHD display (245ppi pixel density) protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It comes packed with 8GB internal memory, 1GB RAM and microSD up to 32GB, 5MP main camera and 0.3MP front snapper, and 2,390mAh battery.
Going by the specifications, Xolo Q1001 is not better than its competitors in the market, except for its bigger screen but that too may not help much as one has to compromise with picture clarity. A huge challenge lies ahead of Xolo.
