Indian Smartphone maker Xolo has added another smartphone in the most popular budget smartphone category. Named as Prime, the smartphone has been priced at ₹5,699, hence it belongs to the under-₹6,000 category to compete with Moto E, Huawei Honor Bee, Micromax Canvas Spark, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A600, and the latest YU Yuphoria. Though most of these smartphones' prices are above Xolo Prime, a few of them are yet to offer Google's latest operating system out of the box.
The Xolo Prime boasts a 4.5-inch IPS display with 854x480 pixels resolution and a pixel density rate of 218ppi. Xolo Prime packs a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor backed with 1GB RAM and Mali 400 MP GPU.
Prime features 8GB inbuilt storage with Micro SD support up to 32GB. On the camera front, Xolo prime packs a 5MP sensor backed with AutoFocus, LED flash and a 0.3MP camera for the front.
Powered by an 1,800 mAh battery, Xolo Prime offers a claimed battery life of 20.8 hours of talk time over 2G networks and 10 hours over 3G. Xolo claims that Prime also offers 500 hours of standby time on 2G network and 400 hours of standby time on 3G network.
The device also packs essential accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and offers GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, Bluetooth v4.0, Micro-USB 2.0, and GPS/ A-GPS connectivity.
Priced at ₹5,699, Xolo Prime will be available through online as well as brick and mortar stores. For its price, only Micromax Canvas Spark offers Android Lollipop OS out of the box. The Micromax-made phone offers similar processor, RAM and storage, but packs a better resolution display (960x540 Pixels) and a bigger (2000 mAh) battery.
