Xiaomi has started the countdown for its upcoming Mi Max launch event in India happening on Thursday, June 30. The event will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. and last till 2 p.m. The launch of the Mi Max will be witnessed by tens of hundreds of fans, media and guests at the venue, but those who cannot make it to the event can be a part of it by live streaming the entire show.
Xiaomi has setup a dedicated webpage on its newly-launched Mi Community, where fans all over India can log in to watch the Mi Max and MIUI 8 unveiling in real time. The company also shared the live streaming link, urging its fans to bookmark it for the event. Xiaomi also said that it will offer prizes to its fans watching the event online.
"Besides the live video feed, you'll get to see real time updates and event photos of the product launch on Mi Community. We've prepared MAX prizes (yes, including many sets of Mi Max) for viewers to win through our online lucky draw during the livestream!" the company said in an announcement on the official Mi Community.
Online viewers will also be able to watch the Mi Max event on Facebook and YouTube and get live updates on Twitter under #mimax and #milaunch hashtags. The Facebook Live and YouTube Live links are yet to be updated on the community blog post.
For those who are unaware, Xiaomi is going to host the upcoming event to launch the Mi Max smartphone alongside MIUI 8 custom ROM in India. Both the announcements were made in China in May, but India-specific price and release details was not revealed at the time. Going by the specs of the Mi Max, it is going to be one of the budget devices in the market in the range of Rs. 15,000. There is going to be interesting news about MIUI 8 for Mi smartphones in India, which will bring a refreshing user experience for those using older devices without updating to new ones.

In terms of specifications, Xiaomi Mi Max offers a 6.44-inch Full HD display, a 16MP primary camera with dual LED flash, PDAF and a 5MP front snapper. It is powered by a Snapdragon 650 chipset with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB storage options. The device has a 4,850mAh battery, metal unbody, dual SIM slots, 4G LTE and VoLTE support.
As for MIUI 8 related changes, users will get a redesigned Gallery app with built-in editing tools, improved calculator app, new Notes app, all-new battery saver, anti-fraud SMS security, task manager, multi tasking features and more. The update will be pushed to eligible users in an OTA update and those details will be revealed at the upcoming event.
