Earlier in the month, reports surfaced online that Samsung is in talks with Synaptics to incorporate the 3D Touch display like feature seen inside the Apple's new iPhone 6S series, into its 2016 flagship Galaxy S7
Now, another report emerging from China has indicated that Xiaomi too wants to use similar pressure sensitive screen technology in its future flagship smart devices, probably in Mi5 and Mi Pad 2.
G for Games, citing a reliable tipster has claimed Xiaomi is working on 3D Touch like technology to be used in the upcoming devices in China. But, the source is unsure whether this display technology is being solely developed by Xiaomi, or the company is taking the help of Synaptics, developer of ClearForce, which is said to be more superior to 3D Touch feature.
Xiaomi and Synaptics have both worked for recently launched Mi 4C, which use former's ClearPad S3708 capacitive touch controller technology for SideTouch feature.

So, we won't be surprised if Xiaomi and Synaptics are working together in the development of pressure sensitive screen panels for the future Mi series products.
Apple's 3D Touch vs Synaptics' ClearForce:
For the uninitiated, 3D Touch feature enables phone's display to intuitively sense the difference in finger's pressure to enable new gestures -- Peek and Pop. The users can dip in and out of content without losing their place. They just need to press the screen lightly to get a Peek at a photo, email, web page or other content, and if pressed a little deeper, they can Pop into the content itself.
On the other hand, ClearForce technology is said to come with additional features, wherein the screen will have the ability to note the difference between speed scrolling, zoom, gaming, texting and even operate photo editing tools by understanding subtle variable pressure on the surface.
If Xiaomi does succeed in incorporating ClearForce display feature in smartphones and price them less than that of the Tier-1 brands, then the company can stir up another storm in the handset industry.
