Chinese smartphone OEM Xiaomi has finally confirmed their much awaited Gen 2 budget smartphone Redmi 1S. According to reports the latest budget smartphone will feature 4G LTE connectivity with some hardware modifications.
The latest smartphone might be renamed as Redmi 2S and is tipped to be released on the 4 January. Significantly the International CES event will take place at the same period of time, so there is a high probability that the new smartphone will be released in the CES only.
Xiaomi has posted a new poster on their Weibo account. The poster features three models holding different colour smartphones. The back panel shown in the poster looks identical to the panel seen in Tenna's listed images.
According to Tenna, the much anticipated budget smartphone will feature two 4G LTE sim slot and will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 64-bit SoC 410. The latest smartphone will also feature a 4.7-inch display with 720x1280 pixels display along with 1GB worth RAM memory and 8GB of in-built storage.
Powered by a 2,200mAh battery the Redmi 1S successor is also about to feature an 8mp rear camera and a 2mp front camera. The budget smartphone will be running on Android Kitkat 4.4 OS with a customised MIUI layer over it. The Redmi 1S 2nd generation or Redmi 2S will also support GSM, WCDMA, TD LTE and LTE FDD networks.
According to the leaked pictures, the latest smartphone will weigh 134g and will be measured at 134x67.2x9.2mm, which means the upcoming phone will weigh less and will also be thinner than the previous generation.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has started selling their Redmi Note 3G and 4G smartphones in India and expressed to release their latest flagship smartphone MI4 in India.
