The next-gen smartphone that will be unveiled by Xiaomi at an event on September 27 is going to be the Mi 5S, the company has confirmed, thus silencing rumour mills that had speculated that the handset being launched would be the Xiaomi Mi Note S. Xiaomi had earlier sent out media invites with the tagline bearing the 'S' moniker, thus leading to speculations.
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun has now confirmed that the high-end smartphone being launched is the Mi 5S, and not the Mi Note S, reported Firstpost. A smartphone termed Xiaomi Mi 5S had also passed Chinese certifications recently.
However, no key technical specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5S have been revealed officially. But reliable sources, who first indicated the launch of the Mi 5S, say loyalists can expect the next-gen smartphone with these primary hardware aspects:
- 5.15-inch display offering the Force Touch functionality
- 2.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC and Adreno 530 GPU
- 6 GB RAM
- 256 GB internal storage
- 16 MP rear camera with dual LED flash
- Dual SIM-card support
- LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and USB Type-C connectivity/support
- 3,490 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has scheduled a flash sale for the Redmi 3S on September 28. With the launch of the seemingly-improved next-gen Mi 5S, the flash sale could be the penultimate one. Loyalists can check Xiaomi's official ePortal to keep abreast with release of new smartphones.
