Xiaomi Rival Meizu Set for Official Debut in India; Tipped to Launch Flagship Phablet M1 Note

Emerging consumer electronics firm Meizu is all set for a grand debut in India.

Like its Chinese peer Xiaomi, Meizu took to social networking platform Facebook to announce its intention to enter the subcontinent's burgeoning smartphone business arena.

For the uninitiated, Meizu Technology Co., Ltd first began as a maker of portable music player (M6 Mini Player and M3 Music Card to name of few) in 2003 and later expanded to smartphone business in 2009 with the release of M8 miniOne. Since then, it has grown steadily and just recently, the company made it to top 10 handset makers chart in China.

Meizu now seems to be ready to set foot in the Indian market. The company has opened a contest where-in Indian fans stand a chance to win a device on 21 March.

"Giveaways for fans in India only! Enter the contest by telling your Meizu story and mentioning 3 friends to have a chance to win! We will announce the first winner on March 21, stay tuned!" reads a post on Meizu India Facebook. 

There is no official word on what the mystery device is, but going by the company's promotional campaign on M1 Note in its social network page, many believe that this flagship phablet might be the first device to hit stores in India.

Meizu M1 Note sports a 5.5-inch full HD screen and runs on the forked Android based Flyme OS powered by the 64-bit class MediaTek Octa-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB inbuilt memory and a 3140 mAh battery.

On imaging front, it houses 13.0-megapixel Samsung camera with 5-element lens, 4X digital zoom, 300-degree panoramic lens and other photography enhancing features. To appease selfie aficionados, the company has incorporated 5mp OV5670 camera with 4-element lens, f/2.0, 69-degree wide-angle lens, Face AE light boost technology, and FotoNation smart selfie enhancement.
