Xiaomi launched its premium Redmi Pro smartphone in China on Wednesday with much-needed focus on design and the specifications. The Redmi Pro was launched in three variants, all of which have different configurations to match consumers' needs. There are several highlights of the new Redmi Pro, but the dual camera setup in the budget device has got us all talking.
Xiaomi's pricing of the Redmi Pro is ¥1999 (around $300/€272/Rs. 20,133) for the high-end Mediatek Helio X25+4GB RAM+128GB storage model, ¥1699 (around $255/€232/Rs.17,110) for Mediatek Helio X25 +3GB RAM+64GB variant and ¥1499 (around $225/€204/Rs. 15,095) for Mediatek Helio X20+3GB+32GB storage option. The company said the handset will be available in China on August 6, but eager buyers around the world can sign up on GearBest to be the first to own the Redmi Pro when it becomes available.
GearBest has a history of selling smartphones internationally even though they are limited to specific region. Xiaomi traditionally launches its smartphones in China before other countries. Even when the international launch takes place, the release is not done for weeks and sometimes months. In those situations, GearBest can be a reliable source to import the unreleased smartphones from China to countries such as India, U.S., U.K. and others.
Since Xiaomi hasn't started the sales of the Redmi Pro in China itself, GearBest is accepting pre-orders for the device. Interested buyers can sign up to purchase 32GB variant of the handset in silver or gray colours and GearBest will notify when the handset is available.
Going by the product listing, it appears only the base variant of the Redmi Pro will be available on GearBest. The handset is equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD OLED display, 13MP+5MP dual camera setup on the back and a 5MP front snapper. The Redmi Pro packs a 4,050mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner integrated within the Home button of the device. It features USB Type-C connectivity and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
