The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has tasted immense success in India through its three handsets, Mi3, Mi2 and Redmi 1s.
The Redmi 1s is still getting sold through weekly flash sales on Flipkart. Mi3 has just closed its sales following the launch of Mi2.
Though Xiaomi has launched quite a few accessories, including power banks and earphones, the OEM has not launched any of its latest smartphones in India. And finally on Thursday, Xiaomi has decided to release the phablet, Xiaomi Redmi Note in India.
Hugo Barra, the Vice President of Xiaomi Mi posted on Facebook that the company has sold 10,000 Redmi Note devices within 40 seconds in Indonesia on Thursday. Following the line, he added that Redmi Note is coming next to the Indian market.
Rumours suggest that Xiaomi will release a new product very soon in India, but wasn't sure whether they will release Redmi Note or Mi4. Now, since Redmi Note phablet release got an official confirmation, it is expected that Mi4 and Xiaomi's fitness band Mi band will be available soon.
The Redmi Note boasts a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display and offers a resolution of 1280x720 pixels at 267ppi. It measures 154x78.7x9.5mm and weighs just 199g.
It boasts a MediaTek MT6592 SoC chipset, which includes an eight core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and a Mali-450MP4 GPU. The device also has 2GB RAM and 8GB of in-built memory with a microSD card slot. The phablet also features a 13MP rear camera coupled with a LED flash. It also has a 5MP front camera and features Android operating system (built not confirmed).
The device was announced in India earlier this year with a price tag of ₹10,000. The Chinese company might consider a price cut by a couple of thousand rupees less than the quoted price to make the product demanding.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has started working on the next version of Redmi Note and also a cheaper version of Android phone with decent configuration.
