Last week, there were only 50,000 Redmi Notes in stock and it got sold out in record 6 six seconds leaving many frustrated. Things got worse when some miscreants offered the devices on popular classified sites like OLX, Quikr and others at exorbitant prices.
The company had faced a similar experience during the Redmi 1S flash sales. Back then, in a bid to counter the racketeering of Xiaomi devices, the Chinese company in co-ordination with its re-seller affiliate, Flipkart, developed an algorithm which automatically blocked select consumers (fraudsters), who use illegal means to buy Redmi 1S and other electronic branded devices, on the website.
It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi or Flipkart has taken any additional security measures to stop the illegal purchase and sale of devices on Tuesday.
Besides the flash sale, Xiaomi is also running a pre-Christmas contest – "The Ultimate Gift Battle" -- on Facebook starting Monday (8-14 December). Lucky winners stand a chance to win Xiaomi Redmi Note, Mystery Mi and Redmi Note priority pass. [More information on the game, HERE]
