Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax has launched two devices – the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro – with fingerprint scanner and impressive specifications, but it won't be a cake walk for the company, as there are dozens of budget smartphones currently available in the Indian market. The handsets will have to take on devices like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo K4 Note in the market.
Micromax Canvas 6 has a metallic body, while the Canvas 6 Pro has a plastic body but with better specifications. The company is yet to announce the price of the former but the latter is currently available for pre-orders and is priced at Rs. 13,999. This means it will have to compete with the Lenovo K4 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (32GB) which come with a price tag of Rs. 11,999.
The Canvas 6 Pro costs a couple of thousands more than the Redmi Note 3 and K4 Note but these devices are almost head-to-head in terms of specifications, and comparison may give prospective buyers a better idea of which one to buy. Let's have a look at what these devices have to offer:
Display
The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro has a plastic body and sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1920x1080 pixels (401 ppi pixel density). On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a metal uni-body and a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density). The Lenovo K4 Note too has a metallic frame with plastic body and sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 1,080x1920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density).
Processor and software
The Lenovo K4 Note is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 processor clocking at 1.3 GHz and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vibe UI 3.0, while Micromax Canvas 6 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocking at 2.0GHz and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Storage
The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro comes packed with a 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card) and 4GB RAM, compared to 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3GB RAM seen in the Lenovo K4 Note, and 16GB/32GB internal storage (no microSD card slot) and 3GB RAM seen in the Redmi Note 3.
Camera
The Redmi Note 3 has a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture, while the Lenovo K4 Note houses a 13MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-snapper. On the other hand, the Canvas 6 Pro mounts a 13MP main camera with LED flash, PDAF and 5P Largan lens, and a 5MP front-snapper.
Battery
The Redmi Note 3 has a 4,000mAh battery, compared to the 3,300mAh seen in the Lenovo K4 Note and 3,000mAh in the Canvas 6 Pro.
