Xiaomi made some prominent launches this year, the Redmi Note 3 being one of the most popular ones. The handset is affordable, good-looking and packs premium specifications, enough to attract buyers in a budget-conscious market like India.
Due to the high demand for the handset, it has mostly been out of stock, but Xiaomi's India head Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed the Redmi Note 3's availability across all major online channels.
Jain made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday, saying that the Redmi Note 3 will be available on Flipkart, Amazon India, Snapdeal, TataCLiQ and Mi.com. While the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage has been unavailable for a long time, Jain said both variants, including the one with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, will be available for purchase starting Wednesday.
We checked for stock availability of the Redmi Note 3 and found the 16GB model, which is priced at Rs. 9,999, is still unavailable across all sales channels.
The 32GB variant, which costs Rs. 11,999, is available on Mi.com and Snapdeal, but Flipkart and Amazon India have no stock of both Redmi Note 3 variants. It remains unclear when the Redmi Note 3 stock will be available in India.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was initially available only on Mi.com and Amazon India, but the company opened the handset's availability to other e-commerce platforms due to the increasing demand. The company said it has sold more than 6 lakh units of the Redmi Note 3 in just two months of launch.
Xiaomi's Global VP, Hugo Barra, had said in May that the Redmi Note 3 has been selling exceptionally well in India. Barra also said that the company was planning to increase production of the Redmi Note 3, but the demand for the handset hasn't seemed to subside.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is clearly one of the worthiest smartphones in its price range and challenges rival brands such as Lenovo, Motorola, LeEco, YU Televentures, Meizu and others. Some of the handsets that can be opted in place of the Redmi Note 3 are LeEco Le 2 at Rs. 11,999, Meizu M3 Note at Rs. 9,999 and Lenovo K4 Note at Rs. 11,999.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi Note 3 is no less than its rivals. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 16MP primary camera, a 5MP front snapper and a fingerprint scanner at the back. The handset has a metal uni-body and is powered by a Snapdragon 650 CPU and a 4,050mAh battery.
