Xiaomi is tight-lipped on its upcoming devices - Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Pro – despite speculations that the devices might see the light of day in the third quarter of this year. Now, the company has confirmed the release date of its next device, and it should be the Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Pro.
Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun has revealed on his Chinese Microblogging site Weibo (via Xiaomi Today) official account that the company would release a device on Monday, 29 June.
Jun didn't go into the details of the product, including its name but it is understood that it has to be either the Redmi Note 2 or the Redmi Note 2 Pro. It was earlier reported that the Chinese smartphone makers might release both the devices in July.
Interestingly, a Xiaomi Note device with model number R100867 was recently seen in Zauba, a website that keeps track of imports into and exports from India, meant for "testing purpose for company internal use" and "not for sale," giving a clear hint that the company would release a device soon.
The price of the device mentioned on the site is ₹26,509, which is not likely to be that of the Redmi Note 2 though it is likely to vary when it actually hits the market. So, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Xiaomi releases Redmi Note 2 Pro next week.
Nothing much is known on the device but it is expected to come with several features superior to its predecessor, the Redmi Note.
According to Upleaks (via GSM Arena), the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro bearing model number Xiaomi H3Y will don metallic design, sport FHD Display (display size unknown), powered by MediaTek MT6795 64Bit Octa-core processor, run on MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 or 5.1 Lollipop, and house a 13MP Main Camera with Samsung S5K3M2 ISOCELL image sensor and 5MP front snapper.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (267 ppi pixel density), powered by Mediatek MT6592 and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It comes packed with 8 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card, 1/2 GB RAM, 13 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper, and Li-Po 3100 mAh / 3200 mAh battery.
