An image and the price of Xiaomi's soon-to-be-released Redmi Note 2 has surfaced online just days ahead of its rumoured launch (13 August).

Chinese tipster @KJuma has posted an image of Redmi Note 2 with its retail package, revealing that the upcoming Xiaomi budget phablet will run on MIUI 6, which is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS backed by 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, out of which only 10.82GB will be free for usage. He also claimed that Redmi Note will be powered by 64-bit class MediaTek (MT6795) Helio X10 octa-core CPU.

Though most of the hardware features revealed by @KJuma are in line with previous reports, there is one anomaly. Since Xiaomi is expected to announce the new MIUI v7.0 (based on 5.1.1 Lollipop) on 13 August, why would the company unveil a new device with old OS. We believe the Redmi Note 2 shown in the image might be a prototype and the final version, the one expected to hit the stores on 16 August, might ship new MIUI v7.0 out-of-the-box.

In related development, technology blog Mobipicker citing sources has claimed that the Xiaomi device will be priced ¥1099 (around $177/€161/Rs 11,300).
