Xiaomi's ever-expanding smartphone range is not expected to stop anytime soon. After the launch of Redmi Note 4 last month, Xiaomi will soon launch another handset in the market. Xiaomi Redmi 4 will take the reins of the budget smartphone offering in the company's portfolio with impressive specifications.
Although it isn't the first time we are hearing about the Redmi 4, the new leak shows the handset's design, which is a reminiscent of Xiaomi's signature design. Series of Redmi 4 photos surfaced online, showing us the metal unibody design and the key specifications.
By the looks of it, the Redmi 4 will remain identical to its predecessors with major enhancements under the hood. The rear-facing fingerprint scanner under the camera module is encased in the metal body, and the edge-to-edge display gives wide viewing space for its users. The capacitive touch buttons for home, back and menu functions sit just below the display.
In terms of the specifications, the Redmi 4 is expected to run an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, paired with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 UI. The handset will feature a 5-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution screen and sport a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper for selfies.
Running the show will be a massive battery, which is expected to be around 4,000mAh. The Redmi 4 will support 4G LTE bands, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other standard connectivity options.
Xiaomi was expected to launch the Redmi 4 alongside Redmi Note 4, but that didn't happen. We are clueless when exactly the company intends to make its next move. Xiaomi is also rumoured to be working on another smartphone – Mi Note 2 – packed with premium features.
The Mi Note 2 will be launched alongside a Pro variant, which will compete against the likes of premium flagships in the current market. From what we hear, the MI Note 2 and Mi Note 2 Pro will have dual-edged display, USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, dual 16MP camera with 4-axis OIS and dual tone LED flash. These handsets are expected to be released later this month or early October.
