Xiaomi is proud to have its Redmi Note 3 as India's best selling smartphone, but that is not the only smartphone which is doing fairly well in the market. Xiaomi's recent launches, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime, have been gaining momentum of late and selling like hot cupcakes.
In case you missed the chance to purchase one of the two budget smartphones on September 28, there's going to be another open sale soon. Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime sale will be held exclusively on Flipkart and Mi.com. But the weekly sale pattern will not be continued this time as Xiaomi has decided to hold the next sale on October 12 at 12 noon.
Xiaomi Redmi 3S, which comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, costs Rs. 6,999, while the Redmi 3S Prime with 32GB storage, 3GB RAM and a fingerprint scanner is priced at Rs. 8,999. Based on the requirements, consumers can choose any of the two handsets in the upcoming sale. Given the response to the earlier sales, it is likely the stock will be limited and the open sale won't last for long.
For their price, it is not surprising that the handsets are being sold out so quickly. Both smartphones share the specs mostly. The Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime feature a metallic design, a 5-inch HD IPS display, a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front snapper.
Both budget devices are powered by the same octa-core Snapdragon 430 CPU and a 4,100mAh battery. They also support dual SIM cards, one of which doubles as a microSD card slot when needed, and 4G LTE.
The first sale for the Redmi 3S Prime lasted about 8 minutes, where the company said it sold 90,000 units. The new Redmi smartphones compete against some of the best sellers in the market such as Moto E3 Power, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and Vibe K5.
Just a day before the Redmi 3S sale kicks off, Xiaomi will be selling its newly-launched Mi Band 2 with OLED display. The fitness tracker, which comes with 20-day battery life, fitness, sleep and heart rate monitor, will be available on Mi.com for Rs. 1,999. The open sale for the wearable will begin at 12 noon on October 11.
