After losing its charm in the previous year, Xiaomi is trying to get back in the game. The company recently expanded its smartphone portfolio with some notable additions such as Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2 and is going to launch the Mi 5 in February. Before the major release of a new flagship, Xiaomi is taking some time out to bring an affordable smartphone, Redmi 3, to the market.
The Redmi 3 has been in the news for quite some time now. But Xiaomi made it official by confirming the launch of the handset on 12 January. Now, the Chinese tech giant has started teasing the key features of the phone, starting by revealing the impressive battery of the Redmi 3.
In a Weibo post on Friday, Xiaomi revealed the Redmi 3's battery size to be pegged at 4,100mAh. The handset is pictured in the new image again, but in the same angle as in the previous post giving away the rear design of the phone.
In a separate report, an analyst named Sun Chagxu revealed on Weibo that the Redmi 3 will sport octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor clocking speeds at 1.7GHz and Adreno 405 GPU, Gadgets360 reported. The China-based analyst also said the Redmi 3 will be priced higher than expected, which explains the premium metal body design and the massive battery pack.
In previous leaks on TENNA and Geekbench, other details about the Redmi 3 were revealed. According to the report, Redmi 3 smartphone will pack 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 13MP primary camera, 5MP front snapper and a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The handset will support 4G LTE and run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The measurements of the device were also leaked to be 139.3x69.6x8.5mm and the device would weigh 148 grams.
