Xiaomi was put through some hardships in India, but there is nothing stopping the Chinese tech giant from engraving its brand name permanently in the competitive smartphone market.
If the success of the popular Redmi 1S smartphone was any indication, Xiaomi will clearly take the market by storm with the successive model that is in the works. The rumored Xiaomi Redmi 2S was spotted on a benchmark listing recently giving away most specs details that are expected in the unannounced successor.
Spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark site, the so-called Redmi 2S is expected to borrow most of the features from its predecessor with a decent upgrade, PhoneArena reports.
There will be a 4.7-inch 720p display and one of Qualcomm's new, 64 bit-enabled 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU. The Redmi 1S successor is said to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS along with 4G LTE support.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front snapper, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB) and some trimmed weight with a 2,200mAh battery. The 2015 Redmi smartphone will weigh just 132gms compared to 158gm-Redmi 1S. A separate filing by China's TENAA site shows the smartphone's dimensions at 134 x 67.2 x 9.2 millimeters.
Additionally, Redmi 1S is likely to arrive in multiple color variants, including black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, purple, and blue.
There is no official confirmation of the Redmi 1S successor but the Chinese smartphone vendor is likely to unveil the new handset sometime in March 2015. The price is also expected to be slightly higher than the current Rs. 5,999-worth Redmi 1S and come in the range of Rs. 7,000.
