Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi today (26 August) officially launched the budget phone Redmi 1S in India.
Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD screen with 720x1280p resolution, making it the cheapest HD phone in the Indian market. It is ₹1,000 lesser than the popular Motorola Moto E, which costs ₹6,999.
Under the hood, it comes packed with the Android Jelly Bean OS (with custom MIUI), 1.6GHz Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB) and a 2000 mAh battery.
Priced at just ₹5,999, this feature-rich Redmi 1S smartphone is certain to create huge storm in the entry-level segment just as its sibling Xiaomi Mi3 did in the mid-range sector.
With the onslaught of dirt-cheap devices with high-end specifications, more renowned branded phones now seem overly priced and this is certain to play a huge role in the minds of middle-class buyers, who search for good handsets worth spending their hard earned money on.
The company has confirmed that the Redmi 1S will be up grabs at Flipkart on 2 September and the procedure to buy the phone is similar to Mi3 flash sale. Interested consumers have register themselves on Flipkart in order to be eligible to purchase Redmi 1S. [Note: Registration starts this evening at 06:00 PM]
Later today, Xiaomi Mi3 flash sale 6 will kick-off at 2:00 PM and there will be 20,000 units up for grabs.
In related news, Xiaomi is expected to release the budget phablet Redmi Note before Diwali and its 2014 flagship phone Mi4 by this year end. [Read full report, here]
