Xiaomi Redmi 1s will finally get MIUI update, with the company having started rolling out the new MIUI 6 firmware, which was released in August last year.
Users of Xiaomi Redmi 1s can download and install the MIUI 6 beta system version this week, according to a report by Gizmo China (via GSM Arena). More users of the device will get the new MIUI version in the next few weeks.
However, it is still not sure if the MIUI update will come to both Mediatek and Snapdragon powered Redmi 1S or only to a particular variant. It is also reported that the MIUI update will be made available to all the Xiaomi phones soon.
Launched in August 2014, MIUI 6 has some powerful features like marking unknown numbers that include blocking unwanted calls, access free Wi-Fi with WiWide, and use the IVR system, which makes everyday tasks easier and faster. It also brings changes to home screen and notifications.
Xiaomi Redmi 1s, which was launched in May last year, currently runs on MIUI 5.0 and hasn't being upgraded to MIUI 6 though it was announced six months ago.
The device also sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (312 ppi pixel density) and protected by AGC Dragontrail glass.
It also comes with features like Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, 8 GB internal memory, 1 GB RAM and microSD up to 32 GB, 8MP main camera and 1.6MP front snapper, and Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery.
