Xiaomi Redmi 1S Flipkart Flash Sale to Kick-off on 4 Nov; 1 Lakh Units up for Grabs

Chinese smartphone major, Xiaomi is all set to kick-off another edition of Redmi 1S flash sale in India on 4 November via Flipkart.

The company has confirmed that there will be close to 1 lakh Redmi 1S smartphone up for grabs on Tuesday's flash sale.

Xiaomi had an exhausting last week dissipating negative publicity caused by IAF's advisory to its squadrons and their families to refrain from buying Redmi 1S.

The company was accused of transferring Redmi 1S owner's user-details such as carrier name, phone number, IMEI number, numbers from the address book and text messages to a server in China, owned by CNNIC.

CNNIC is an administrative agency linked to internet affairs and falls under the Ministry of Information Industry of People's Republic of China.

Later it was found that the IAF's notice was more than four-months old and the ban on Redmi 1S was even revoked, much before it began selling in India.

Xiaomi (Global Operations) head, Hugo Barra (via official Facebook page) also clarified that the loopholes found in Cloud Messaging service (which enables users to send text messages for free, similar to other popular messaging services), during a test conducted by F-Secure, has been addressed and has been acknowledged by the computer security company.

The company, in its bid to avoid PR problems in the future, has begun shifting Indian user details from Beijing data centres to Amazon AWS data centres in Singapore and USA. It has also promised to set up local data centres in India in 2015.

Now back to Xiaomi's 4 November flash sale, the registration window will be open to public till 23:59 pm today (03 November) at Flipkart. Even those registered users who missed out on buying the Xiaomi phone on 28 October must have to re-apply again.

Xiaomi has also announced that some loyal fans who have been unlucky so far in getting their hands on the elusive Redmi 1S, will be in for a surprise tomorrow.

The company, via lucky draw will chose select registered users and add Redmi 1S directly in to their cart. They have to just the log-in their Flipkart account at 2 pm. It has also announced a 10% discount on select Redmi 1S covers. This offer is valid only on 4 November.
