Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all geared up for the fifth Redmi 1S flash sale on 30 September.
The company has confirmed (via Facebook) that the 30 September flash sale will have close to 60,000 units up for grabs on Flipkart.
Despite increasing the inventory capacity, the company hasn't been able to bridge the gap between supply and demand. Further adding woes to the company, some miscreants using scripts (malware codes) and browser extension were reportedly buying devices and then selling them at exorbitant prices at various online classified websites, leaving many Xiaomi fans frustrated, who despite getting registered numerous times, couldn't get their hands on the device.
In its bid to counter the racketing of Xiaomi devices, the Chinese company in co-ordination with its re-seller affiliate Flipkart has developed an algorithm, which automatically blocks select consumers (fraudsters) who use illegal means to buy Redmi 1S and other electronic branded devices on the website.
"We are working closely with Flipkart to block people who are gaming the system. Flipkart has an algorithm that blocks people from buying phones if they add repeatedly add [Xiaomi] phones to their carts but don't buy them," NDTV quoted Manu Jain (Xiaomi India head) as saying.
Besides this well-intended initiative, the company has also confirmed that Xiaomi Mi3 will be making a comeback to India ahead of Diwali holidays next month and the company is also said to be evaluating options with the online seller partner, Flipkart, to provide priority passes to those unlucky Xiaomi fans (registered), who could not get their hands on Mi3 in earlier flash sales during July and August.
However, the details regarding the actual release date and the number of units available on the sale day is still under wraps.
