Xiaomi Redmi 1S 2 Snapshots, Specifications Surface Online; Smartphone May Support 4G-LTE

The images and specifications of the yet-to-announced successor of Xiaomi budget Redmi 1S have reportedly surfaced online.

An unnamed Xiaomi device (code-name: Millet 2014811), understood to be the Redmi 1S sequel has been spotted at Chinese government owned certification site Tenaa (Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center), revealing device's design feature and key hardware details.

According to archive (courtesy, PhoneArena), the phone looks strikingly identical to its predecessor Redmi 1S. The camera module placement on the rear-side with LED flash to the left and speaker to the right is same. And even the front-side of the phone is also similar.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the upcoming Xiaomi device is said to ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, a 2mp front camera and it supports 4G-LTE (GSM, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WCDMA), everything else is similar to the predecessor. It sports 4.7-inch HD TFT screen and houses 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and an 8mp camera on the rear-side.

All in all, the new Xiaomi is just a modest upgrade over its predecessor. This reportedly has raised question among technology circle, whether Millet -2014811 is successor or a 4G variant of Redmi 1S.

For instance, the recently launched Redmi Note 4G model has identical specifications seen inside the 3G model sans the Snapdragon CPU with supports advanced LTE modem chip.

So we believe that the Millet -2014811 is more likely to turn out to be a 4G variant than a successor of Redmi 1S.

Though the speculations are running wild on the Internet, Xiaomi is yet to respond to the media. Until the company comes out and clear the air over the rumours, this report will remain as pure speculations only.
