Xiaomi's operating system MIUI 8, the latest version of its custom ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has brought several new features, giving the Mi phone owners reasons to be excited about. Now, it is learnt that the Chinese technology giant will bring split-screen multitasking feature to the OS.
The MIUI 8 was announced in China last month and its first developer ROM has been made available to the users. Xiaomi has now confirmed that the new OS will be launched in India at the launch event of the Mi Max on June 30.
According to a report by GizmoChina, the MIUI 8 will add split screen multitasking feature, but it may not be available in the first release. It added that it is not sure when the new feature will come to the users.
Xiaomi's MIUI 8 ROM comes with several features, including new design, support for long screenshots, improved calculator, redesigned Gallery app, new scanner, special effects for video editing, all-new battery saver, task manager, anti-fraud SMS security, and multi-window management.
The Chinese smartphone maker is expected to be rolled out the final version of the MIUI 8 to Mi phones a few weeks after it is released. Xiaomi devices that are eligible to receive the new OS are the Xiaomi 2S, Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4c, Mi 4S, Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Redmi 1, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 2, and Redmi Note 3.
