As promised, Xiaomi commenced the roll-out of the latest MIUI 8.0 (global) ROM version to its devices on Tuesday evening.
Xiaomi devices, which are eligible to receive new mobile OS, include Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S/Prime, Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Mi Max 32GB.
As of now, Xiaomi MIUI 8.0 ROM has been made available to a handful of devices -- Redmi 1S, Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G and Redmi Note 4G via OTA (Over-The-Air). The company also added that the select owners of Redmi Note 2 and Redmi 2 too will get the new update on Monday through OTA and rest of them would receive it on Aug. 25.
As far as other devices are concerned, Xiaomi plans to expand the roll-out process in the coming weeks.
How to install MIUI 8.0 ROM via OTA on Xiaomi devices:
Xiaomi device owners will automatically get a notification on the screen or else they can click 'Updater' app to check for updates.

It has to be noted that the OTA process is being carried out in phases. So, it may take a few more days to reach all the regions.
For the uninitiated, Xiaomi MiUI 8.0 is based on Android v7.0. Apart from the Marshmallow features, it brings a refurbished and visually appealing Gallery app with built-in editing tools, enhanced calculator app, intuitive Quick ball short-cut feature, new Notes app, scrolling screen-shot, dual apps, inbuilt SMS caller-ID and many other value-added features.
