After creating enough suspense around the upcoming OS, Xiaomi is finally pulling the wraps off its anticipated MIUI 7. Shortly after confirming the new mobile operating system's release alongside a new product in China on 13 August, Xiaomi revealed the global launch date for its MIUI 7. The event will be held in New Delhi, India, on 19 August, where company's VP for international operations Hugo Barra will reveal the interesting features of the new OS.
To beef up the anticipation for the event, Xiaomi is also hosting a competition for its fans around the world who can win a chance to attend the event in India. Xiaomi will not take responsibility for your expenses to attend the event but simply grant an entry. To participate in the contest, fans must apply with all their details such as name, address, state, contact number, email address and the reason to attend the launch.
"We are selecting hard-core MIUI fans to attend the premiere with a FREE ENTRANCE TICKET for each!" the company writes in its official blog.
The winners of the launch tickets will be revealed on 15 August and a confirmation call will be made in order to confirm your attendance.
Xiaomi's currenbt MIUI 6 is one of the most user-friendly Android skins available in the market. The custom ROM offers special features such as colourful themes, blocking telemarketing calls, integrated IVR support and more. The MIUI 6-successor, however, is expected to bring notable upgrades to the table.
Xiaomi also clarified that its global launch event for MIUI 7 will be different from its China ROM launch in Beijing on 13 August. At the event, the company is expected to launch new products as well, which according to reports are Xiaomi Redmi 2 and new flagship Mi 5 smartphone.
There have been several leaks about the unannounced handsets in recent days. The Redmi Note 2 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch HD display, Mediatek's Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 (MSM8919) processor, 13MP primary camera, 5MP front snapper and a 3,000mAh battery, NDTV reports.
On the other hand, the company's next flagship Mi 5 is said to come with 5.2-inch Quad HD display, Gorilla Glass 4 protection, Snapdragon 810 processor, 16MP rear-camera and 13MP front camera. Other speculated details also hint at an integrated fingerprint scanner.
