For the last few months, we have been hearing bits and pieces on features of the Xiaomi Mi5. Now, full fledged details of the flagship device have surfaced online thanks to a blunder by Chinese e-commerce site.
Oppomart accidentally listed the Xiaomi Mi5 revealing the entire spec-list and price of the device. Once the word got out in the media, the web-page was pulled down. But by then, many tech blogs had taken screen-shots of the site.
As per the leaked spec-list (courtesy GSM Arena), Xiaomi Mi5 sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) display and runs on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 SoC (System on Chip) backed by 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.
It also revealed that the Xiaomi device will house 20MP camera on the back, 8MP snapper on the front, 3800 mAh battery and comes in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage models with a starting price of $599 (around €548/Rs. 40,055).
Most of the Xiaomi Mi5 features listed by Oppo Mart are in line with previous reports, but there is one anomaly in display description. It says the device sports 5.5-inch QHD screen, casting a shadow of doubt over the authenticity of the spec-list. Xiaomi already sells flagship 5.7-inch Mi Note (& Pro) phablet series, so the information of the 5.5-inch screen in Mi5 is a tad dicey.
Rivals Samsung and Apple sell marquee devices in two different screen-sizes to widen customer base and they have reaped huge revenue from them.
Hence, we believe Xiaomi Mi5 is more likely to feature 5.2-inch screen. Stay tuned for more updates.
