Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi has officially begun selling the much awaited flagship handset Mi3 in India via an online store.
Xiaomi Mi3 sale kicked off on 22 July, 12:00 noon at Flipkart, but it has to be noted that the company is allowing only to those customers, who registered their name on Flipkart between15 July (announcement day) and 21 July (till 23:59 PM).
E-commerce website is allowing consumers to buy one unit per each account. This restriction seems to be a precautionary measure by Flipkart to avoid illegal hoarding by people who re-sell the devices for exorbitant fares. [Registered buyers can head over to Flipkart, here]
A staggering 100,000 plus prospective buyers got registered in one week. This kind of overwhelming response from the Indian public is no surprise as the new Xiaomi Mi3 comes with a dirt-cheap price tag of just ₹13,999, according to company's Facebook post.
It is the cheapest full HD (1920x1080p) smartphone available in the market. This feature-rich handset also flaunts an Aluminum-magnesium alloy body (with three layers of thermal graphite film) and that's not all, it's belly houses the Qualcomm's superfast beast, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor with Adreno 330 graphics engine and sumptuous 2GB RAM. The only down side is that its storage is limited to 16GB with no option for microSD card slot, but for 16GB it is more than enough to cram most of the popular games and apps in the smartphone.
This aggressively priced Xiaomi phone is expected to shake up the mid-range smartphone sector, just like Moto G did in early 2014 (in February), but Mi3 not only poses threat to low-cost Indian smartphone vendors, but also to the tier-1 MNC players like Motorola (Moto G & X), Google-LG Nexus 5, Samsung (Galaxy S4), HTC (One M8 & M7), Sony (Xperia Z2 & Z1) and others.
Later today (on 22 July), Xiaomi is all geared up to unveil the new generation flagship smartphone, Mi4 at the company's annual product launch event in China.
Xiaomi Mi4 is expected to sport a mammoth 5.5-inch 2K (2560x1440p) resolution display with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch), and also boasts of latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 series quad-core processor and 3GB RAM with 32GB inbuilt memory, according to reports.
