Xiaomi appears to be seriously eyeing the television market after finding its foothold in the smartphones segment, as it has launched its next-generation television set, the Mi TV 3S, just a few months after its predecessor the Mi TV 3 hit the stores. The new Mi TV is ultra-thin and comes in two models -- 43″ and 65″ -- with curved display.
Xiaomi's Vice President of International Hugo Barra revealed the specifications and pricing of the Mi TV 3S 65″ on Wednesday. He wrote on his Facebook page that the new television set sports a 65″ Samsung curved display, has an ultra-thin 5.9mm metal body and comes with a price tag of 8,999 Yuan (around $1,386 / Rs. 92, 500). It has a Mstar 6A928 flagship TV processor, a Dolby and DTS audio dual decoding, and an Mi TV Bar with independent 6-piece sound system.
According to FoneArena, the Mi TV 3S 65″ comes with features like a 3,840x2,160p screen resolution, an 8GB internal memory, 2GB RAM and a Mali-760 MP4 GPU. It went on to say that it supports WiFi 802.11 ac, Dual-band 2.4 / 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, 3 x HDMI 2.0, VGA, AV, Analog TV, 1 x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
The same source the Mi TV 3S 43″ model sports a 1,920x1,080 Full HD display from LG/AUO and comes with a price tag of 1799 Yuan (around $ 276 / Rs. 18,500). It comes with features like a MStar 6A908 Cortex-A9 processor clocking at 1.45GHz, a Mali-450 MP4 GPU, an 8GB internal memory and a 1GB RAM. It also supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Dual-band 2.4 / 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 3 x HDMI 1.4, VGA, AV, Analog TV, 1 x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
Both the Mi TV 3S models will hit the stores in China March 31. It is not known when the company will make them available in other markets.
It may be mentioned that Xiaomi released the Mi TV 3 in October last year, succeeding the Mi TV 2. The Mi TV 3 sports a 70-inch display with a 3,840x2,160 pixel resolution and is priced at 9,999 Yuan (about Rs. 1,02,725).
