Xiaomi introduced its flagship tablet Mi Pad last week, and the device is set to go sale later today (24 March) on Flipkart.
Like all Xiaomi devices, Mi Pad has been appreciated for offering top-end specifications for a dirt-cheap price tag.
To provide some perspective on the new Xiaomi device, we have listed some of its key aspects based on which users can make an informed decision before buying Mi Pad.
Five Salient Features of Xiaomi Mi Pad:
Powerful SoC (System on Chip): Xiaomi Mi Pad houses the new generation Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, the same which powerful Gaming based PCs use. Inside, it packs ARM Cortex A15 quad-core chipset which can clock a staggering 2.2GHz CPU cycles and is backed by GeForce Kepler (192 cores) graphics engine. It is 1.5 times more energy efficient than other mobile GPUs and fully supports OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.1 and tessellation, says the company.
Mobile Operating System: Mi Pad runs on the tweaked Android OS (4.4.4 KitKat) with MIUI v6.0. Unlike other UIs we see in Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG devices, Xiaomi's MIUI has a feature-rich interface and is refreshing. It is more like a hybrid between Android and iOS, yet simple and visually appealing.
Xiaomi has gained a lot of reputation for being one of the very few OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partner of Google, which is quick with releasing software updates. That's not all. They also listen to fans on official forums and release regular software patch soon after a bug is reported.
Battery: Xiaomi Mi Pad ships with high-capacity 6700 mAh battery, which can run the tablet for a staggering 1300 hours, that's 54 days under standby mode.
Camera: For a sub-₹13,000 price tag, Mi Pad houses pretty decent camera specifications. It features 8.0-megapixel Sony camera with BSI Sensor, f/2.0 Aperture, Focus Mode, Focus Area and full HD video recording ability. And on the front, it houses 5.0-megapixel snapper.
Price: Xiaomi Mi Pad costs just ₹12,999, less than half the price of the top-end HTC Nexus 9 (starting price: ₹28,900) tablet, which houses pretty much same features. Mi Pad is also poised to threaten popular premium brands like Apple iPad Mini 3, Nexus 7 (2013, Cellular), Samsung Tab S (8.4-inch).
