Xiaomi is all geared up to release its Mi Max smartphone in India on June 30. The new handset will challenge the leading budget smartphone makers, including LeEco, Meizu, Micromax YU and others. But the Mi Max offers some unique features that will make it one of the best selling devices in the country.
The budget smartphone market is getting a lot of attention from big and small players across India. The stiff competition between these companies has led to worthy devices benefitting the end consumers. While the Mi Max is expected to be launched starting at Rs. 15,000 or less, customers have plenty options in that range. It remains to be seen how Xiaomi can penetrate through its rivals to reach consumers.
Xiaomi Mi Max was originally launched in May and the specs of the device speak for itself. The company launched the handset in three configurations, 4GB RAM+128GB+Snapdragon 652 octa-core CPU, 3GB RAM+32GB and 3GB RAM+64GB with Snapdragon 650 CPU for both variants. Other features are worth taking a note, but we have narrowed down the most impressive ones.
Display
For all the big screen lovers, Xiaomi Mi Max is a sensible and a worthy investment. The smartphone features a 6.44-inch Full HD display with 342ppi and 540 nits brightness. The bezels are extremely slim to give you a wider screen area to watch movies or play games.
Design
While plastic is slowly getting phased out of smartphones, metallic structures are being offered in budget devices as well. Xiaomi Mi Max features an all-metal shell on the back and measures just 7.5mm thick. The handset weighs 203grams, which doesn't seem too bad for a smartphone with a huge battery and metallic structure.
Battery
It is important that smartphones have large batteries to run through the day. Xiaomi addresses that concern with a 4,850mAh battery inside its Mi Max smartphone. The company did not reveal how long the fully charged battery would last, but it could last several hours on video playback or talk time.
Camera
One of the most important features in a smartphone is its camera. A good camera always attracts shoppers. Xiaomi Mi Max features a 16-megapiel rear-facing camera with dual LED flash, PDAF, Full HD recording and autofocus. On the front, there is a 5MP snapper with 85-degree viewing angle, f/2.0 aperture and a self-timer option to take perfect selfies.
