Xiaomi Mi Max: What we know so far
Numerous reports suggested Xiaomi's upcoming Mi Max will be a phablet boasting a massive 6.4-inch screen. The use of the word "Max" in the device's name led many to believe the same.
Recently, Xiaomi Mi Max was spotted at GFXBench performance testing website. It showed that the device would feature a 6.4-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display, corroborating the previous rumours.
But, the teaser image released last week indicated otherwise. The poster showed the top portion of the Mi Max peeping out from the front pocket of a jeans pant, hinting the phone will have a smaller screen.
The word "Max" might also indicate that the device would come with a high capacity battery. This is just a speculation based on the monikers of other rival branded devices. For instance, Asus Zenfone Max's USP is its battery. It houses a massive 5,000mAh cell, which offers 37.6 hours of 3G talk-time and is also capable of keeping the phone running for close to 914 hours under standby mode.
It is believed the Mi Max model, which appeared on GFX Bench might be one of the prototypes tested by the company. Usually, smartphone makers test different models by tweaking features before rounding up on the specifications for the final product.
Other expected features of Xiaomi Mi Max include Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 hexa-core (ARMv8-based Cortex A72 x 6) CPU, Adreno 510, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, a 16MP primary camera and a 5MP front snapper.
