Popular smartphone maker Xiaomi is reportedly planning to bring the company's flagship Mi 8 to India as early as next month.
Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to hit stores in India early September, according to 91 Mobiles report, citing that there will be three separate mobile retailers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The Mi 8 is a really good phone in terms of specifications and if priced under Rs 30,000, Xiaomi will be able to give OnePlus, Asus, Apple and Samsung among others, a run for its money in the premium phone segment.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 flaunts high-grade7000 series aluminium frame around the edges and sports a 6.21-inch FullView (2248x1080p) display with 2.5D curved glass on top. It also comes with Apple iPhone X-like notch having an advanced front 20MP camera with F2.0 aperture, AI Portrait and AI Beauty modes.
It will also double up as face scanner and will be assisted by IR sensor to enable the device to authenticate owner's face even in pitch darkness. Additionally, it boasts the fingerprint scanner on the back as well.
On the back, Xiaomi Mi 8 houses a couple of 12 MP sensors, one with F1.8 aperture wide-angle and the other with f/2.4 aperture telephoto setup, OIS, and AI feature for portraits scene detection and video editing.
Inside, it comes packed with a powerful and faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor backed by a 6 GB / 8 GB RAM and MIUI 10. It also supports dual-frequency GPS along with other standard connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, NFC and more.
Though the news of the arrival of Mi 8 is surely getting the Mi fans excited, we are a bit sceptical of the report, as the company's sub-brand Poco is confirmed to be launching a device dubbed as the Poco F1 with similar specifications and might result in cannibalisation.
Manu Kumar Jain, vice president (global) and India head of Xiaomi, in a chat with media personnel during the Mi A2 had also confirmed that there are plans to bring Mi series flagship phone, however, not in coming weeks.
We believe retailers might have confused Mi 8 with Poco F1, as both the devices come from the same house of Xiaomi.
