The wait is getting harder and Xiaomi fans could be left disappointed if the much-awaited Mi 5 is not released in the next few weeks.
The Mi 4 successor was expected to be unveiled in July before releasing in August but it never happened. It was then reported that it would see the light of the day in August but the month is also getting over soon and with Xiaomi remaining tight-lipped, it could be pushed to a later date.
The Chinese mobile phone maker have not announced the release date of the Mi 5 or for that matter, its specifications, but several reports have leaked key specifications and price.
The Xiaomi Mi 5, according to reports that have surfaced so far, will come with several feature upgrades over its predecessor. It is expected to have a fingerprint scanner and wear a different look with a metal body unlike the Mi 4.
The device is expected to sport a 5.2-inch QHD touchscreen with 2,560 x1,440 pixels screen resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 4. It is expected to be powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, run on Android Lollipop operating system, come packed with 32/64 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM, house a 16 MP main camera and 13 MP secondary snapper, and powered by a battery with over 3000mAh.
It is also reported that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come with a price tag of ¥2,399, which is around Rs 24,575. The 64 GB version of Xiaomi Mi 4 costs Rs 19,999 in India.
