The wait for Xiaomi Mi 5 has been stretched for months, but the fans' eagerness hasn't got lost. It appears like the release date of the device is not far off as several details, including major specifications, have been leaked.
Xiaomi Mi 5 has been in the news since July this year, with reports suggesting that it might be released in August; but it never materialised. It was rumoured to be arriving in September and then in November, but this news didn't turn out to be true. Now, Gizmo China has reported that the Xiaomi Mi 4 successor will be unveiled in January 2016 and be released on 8 February.
The release date of the device has not been confirmed. Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun had earlier said that Xiaomi Mi 5 is "worth waiting for", according Tech Sina (via GForGames).
According to reports that have surfaced so far, Xiaomi Mi 5 will have several feature upgrades over its predecessor Mi 4.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come with features like fingerprint sensor and Type-C USB port, and sport a 5.2-inch QHD touchscreen with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution protected by Gorilla Glass 4. It is expected to be priced at around $399 (approximately Rs 26,500).
The next-generation smartphone is expected to have powerful hardware. According to reports, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, come packed with a 32/64 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM, house 16 MP main camera with optical Image stabilisation (OIS) and 5 MP secondary snapper, and have a 3000mAh battery.
