The flash sale of Xiaomi's much-hyped flagship device, the Mi 5, was a blink-and-you-miss-it affair in India at the Mi Fan Festival Wednesday. The handset is up again for sale, which will take place next week.
The device was made available at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. Wednesday but only the lucky ones could grab it, as the booking was over within seconds of its opening.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 flash sale 2 will kick off at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Unlike the previous flash sale, where registration was not required to buy the device, prospective buyers have to register for the next week's sale on the company's official website.
Only one of the three variants of the Mi 5 is available in India at the moment — the 32GB storage and 3GB RAM model of the device priced at Rs. 24,999. The other two variants of the Mi 5 are the 64GB internal memory and 3GB RAM model that comes with a price tag of 2,299 Yuan (around $351), and the 128GB storage and 4GB RAM model which is priced at 2,699 Yuan (around $413). It is not known when these models will be released in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is a feature-rich device with a fingerprint sensor and a 144.6x69.2x7.3 mm dimension. It sports a 5.15-inch full HD screen with 1,920x1,080 pixel (428 ppi pixel density), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI v7.0. It also comes with a 6MP Sony IMX298 main camera, a 4MP front-snapper with 2µm pixel size and a 3,000mAh with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
