The Xiaomi Mi 4i was released in India last month with much fanfare but gadget lovers' happiness turned into despair after the device started facing overheating issue. But it seems the company has been working hard to solve the issue, as it is set to release a new OTA (over-the-air) software update to solve the issue once and for all.
Xiaomi had earlier released the MIUI V6.5.4.0 LXIMICD update to the Mi 4i with an aim to solve overheating issue but it caused firmware issue instead of solving it, thus forcing the Chinese smartphone makers to suspend the OTA update.
Now, a new report has surfaced that Xiaomi is releasing MIUI V6.5.5.0 build to the Mi 4i sometime this week to solve the issue.
"As many people are not able to upgrade to V6.5.4.0, The reason is that The previous OTA Update (V6.5.4.0 LXI) has been suspended. This has been done because there were many users facing new issues after updating," reads a post on MIUI website.
"So the Good News: New OTA Update is coming next week which will be V6.5.5.0," it added. "So all the people who are facing some issues, Please wait till this OTA update arrives and let us know then after updating if you are still facing that issue!"
The news of MIUI V6.5.5.0 update came just ahead of Xiaomi Mi 4i being made available in India on open sale. The device will be up on open sale for two days on Monday and Tuesday at Flipkart website.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i sports a 5.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (441 ppi pixel density), powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, and runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It comes packed with 16 GB internal memory and 2 GB RAM, houses 13 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper, and a Li-Ion 3120 mAh battery. It comes with a price tag of ₹ 12,999.
