Smartphone maker Xiaomi unveiled Xiaomi Mi 4C in China on Tuesday, 22 September. Xiaomi Mi 4C is said to be an advanced version of the Mi 4i, which was launched in India in April.
To give you a better perspective on the siblings, we have the key specifications of Xiaomi Mi 4i and Mi 4C.
Design and Display:
Xiaomi Mi 4i and Mi 4C have identical design language. Both the devices flaunt candy-bar shape with slim body and curved corners. They measure 7.8 mm in thickness and weigh around 130 g.
Both the devices sport the same 5.0-inch full HD display with pixel density of 441 ppi (pixels per inch). They also boast Sunlight display technology and night reading mode option, but differ in terms of the maker.
The display of Xiaomi Mi 4i is supplied by Sharp / JDI with OGS (One Glass Solution) full laminated screen. On the other hand, Mi 4C is based on the Sharp/AUO/LG custom screen.
Processor, RAM and storage capacity:
Xiaomi Mi 4C comes with major upgrade over its predecessor Mi 4i in this category.
Xiaomi Mi 4i houses the second generation 64-bit class based Snapdragon 615 Octa-core (1.7 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A53 + 1.0GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A53) processor, manufactured by the industry leader, Qualcomm. It is aptly backed by Adreno 405 graphics engine, 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB/32GB (limited edition) inbuilt memory.
The new Xiaomi Mi 4C too houses a Qualcomm chipset, but it is more powerful and faster than the CPU seen inside the Mi 4i. It comes packed with a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core CPU (dual-core ARM Cortex A57 + quad-core ARM Cortex A53) with Adreno 418 GPU.
As far as the storage capacity is concerned, it comes in two storage variants -2GB RAM/16GB memory and 3GB RAM/32GB memory combination.

Camera specification details:
Xiaomi Mi 4i packs a 13mp Sony/Samsung camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, auto-focus, HDR, touch-focus, full HD video recording ability and a 5mp snapper with 80-degree wide-angle lens, f/1.8 aperture with full HD video recording ability, which is certain to please the selfie aficionados.
On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 4C comes with more advanced hardware. The company has incorporated a 13.0-megapixel Sony IMX258 camera with Samsung ISOCELL sensor, Phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and dual-tone flash. And on the front, it houses a 5mp wide-angle snapper.
Mobile operating system:
The new Xiaomi Mi 4C runs on the MIUI 7.0 UI based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the box.
On the other hand, Mi 4i is still running on the one generation old MIUI v6.0 (Android5.0.2 Lollipop). The good news is that the company has released MIUI 7.0 beta for the Mi 4i in India. Xiaomi has promised to roll-out final public version really soon.
Battery:
In this aspect, there is not much of a difference between the two devices. Xiaomi's new Mi 4C houses a 3,080 mAh battery, that's 40 mAh power units less than the Mi 4i, which comes packed with a 3,120 mAh cell. Both the devices can last a whole day under mixed usage.
