Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has finally launched its much-hyped smartphone, the Mi4, in India, seven months after it was released in China. The device is bound to be compared to other smartphones like Google Nexus 5 and other devices available in the market despite their price differences due to its good specifications.
The Nexus 5 is more than one year old but it was one of the best smartphones released then. It has killer features that work great even to this day. Its 16GB version is priced ₹29999 and the 32GB version costs ₹31,999 on Google Play Store, while the Xiaomi Mi 4 is priced just ₹19,999. Price difference between the devices is huge but many would compare them, as they have similar features.
Here is Specifications Comparison between Xiaomi Mi 4 and Google Nexus 5:
Xiaomi Mi 4: It weighs 149g, sports a 5-inch 1080x1920 pixel (441 ppi pixel density), powered by 2.5GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and runs on Android Kitkat 4.4. It comes packed with 16/64 GB internal memory and 3GB RAM, 13MP main camera and 8MP front snapper, and 3080 mAh battery.
High Points: Xiaomi Mi 4 is a steady device with good looks, good build quality with metallic frame, great screen display quality, specifications to price ration is high, compact and great to hold, good camera, has MIUI 6 interface and supports Qualcomm 2.0 fast charging though it comes out of the box.
Low Points: However, the device has only 3G version in India with the 4G version available only in China. The device available in India comes with 16GB internal memory, which many will find way too less, and the 64GB version is available only in China. Interestingly, it supports 4K video recording which consumes lots of memory, and on top of that there is no microSd card slot.
Google Nexus 5: It weighs 130 g, sports a 4.95-inch True HD IPS+ capacitive touchscreen protected Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with 1080 x 1920 pixels (445 ppi pixel density). It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, 8 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 1.3 MP front snapper, and house a non-removable Li-Po 2300 mAh battery.
High Points: The Nexus 5 built by LG has excellent hardware-software integration, and has received Google latest operating system Android 5.0 Lollipop and will be the first to get new firmware updates. It has great pixel density with 445 ppi, which is still one of the highest seen in smartphones. It is a very light device weighing just 130g and looks good; has stock android interface, great to hold, good performance and has features like NFC, 4G connectivity, and wireless charging. The device has only 8MP camera but it comes with OIS.
Low Points: The device has not seen price cut since it was released over a year ago. Its internal memory is low comparing to its price, and lack of microSD card slot adds woes to its users who need more storage. Camera pixel is less comparing to its competitors in the market and low battery life is one of its biggest drawbacks with high resolution screen consuming lots of power.
Conclusion: It is not very fair to compare Xiaomi Mi 4 with Google Nexus 5 owing to huge price difference but the fact is they are not very different when it comes to specifications. The Mi 4 is great for its price but the Nexus 5 still stands tall among the smartphones available in the market despite its age because of its good specifications.
