Popular Chinese consumer electronics major Xiaomi launched the new flagship smartphone Mi 5 March 31 in India. The company, to the dismay of fans, announced the release of only the low-end model, which comes with just 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory.

The device will be made available on Xiaomi's official e-commerce site Mi.com via flash sale for Rs. 24,999 on April 6.

Xiaomi had originally unveiled three Xiaomi Mi5 variants housing different storage and CPU configuration, in China in January. Top-end model Mi 5 Pro comes with 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt memory. The other two variants ship with 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820+3GB+64GB and 1.8GHz Snapdragon+3GB RAM+32GB storage combination, respectively.

Except the RAM, storage and the processor speed, rest of the features remain same in all the three models. They come with 5.15-inch full HD display having finger-print sensor at the bottom, which also doubles up as the home button, latest Android Marshmallow OS based MIUI v7.0, 16MP Sony IMX298 camera, 4MP snapper on the front, 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

There is no official word on whether Xiaomi has any plans of releasing the top-end Mi 5 Pro later in India.

Competition:

Xiaomi Mi 5 will be up against Samsung's flagship Galaxy S7 series, Lenovo's Moto X Force and the soon-to-be-launched Apple iPhone SE and LG G5.
